I was checking my Facebook, like I do about 25 other times of the day, and I see a status message that went something like “I AM A CHRISTIAN, if you’re a true follower of Christ repost this as your status…”Does this remind you of anything? Maybe half of the email forwards you used to or maybe still recieve? Now at the heart of it their is nothing wrong with these kind of status updates. If you feel the cumpulsion to repost these, be my guest. But don’t under any circumstances tell me I’m not a true follower of Christ or I’m ashamed of Him because I don’t. That is ridiculous. It’s like saying if you don’t own a pair of jeans you don’t ever wear pants. And not to single anyone out, but a lot of times I see these kind of status updates from people who don’t show “fruit” in their daily walk. Why is that? Well I think the statement STATUS is quite appropriate. A lot of times its more of a showy thing, then a true heart felt thing.I was at a local social media meeting for small businesses and one of the statements made by an attendee struck me as interesting. He said he believed the social networks, such as facebook, are

Yesterday I had a client ask me to put a Facebook Like Box on their website for them. Of course I was more then happy to oblige, until it didn’t work. For some reason the FB Developers Like Box generator isn’t working. So here is a quick and easy solution.Download this txt file.Find where it says “id=XXXXXXXXXXXXXX” and this is what you need to change.Go to your facebook profile and click on your profile picture. At the end of the URL there will be the same kind of “id=XXXXXXXXXXXX”.Copy the id number from your URL and paste it in place of the one in the file. Boom. Problem solved. The rest you can figure out. You can customize the box and change the features by changing some of the code. At least you’ll have a working box if you can’t figure out the rest.

So a couple weeks ago I created a “fan” page for myself on Facebook. Now I know that sounds conceited, but thats not why I created it. My goal is to market myself. Sounds kind of weird but its worked for other people, so I thought I would give it a shot. Since I enjoy hosting podcasts, videos, etc. I’m going to try and market my personality. So anything and everything I create thats not specifically done for JPT Media will be marketed as eg: Producedby Ethan Thompson. So if people enjoy what I do, or at least are interested I may be able to create a “following”. Which could then be used to market other peoples material, or my own, and at some point God-willing make me some cash. SO, become a fan of me on Facebook and follow me on Twitter!
